土佐のおきゃく

今年の土佐おきゃくは3日から始まりました。
天気も良く・イベント沢山・人も多い・街中がわくわくしよったぜ!

"Okyaku" began yesterday and continued in fine style today.
The weather cooperated and with so many
events being held, the city
was crowded, buzzing and energetic.

空気中に春の気配…とお酒の香り!
The smell of Spring (and sake) was in the air!

土佐と言えばやっぱり酒文化は大事。
「ひろめ市場」の前で酒合戦だ!

Tosa is steeped in a culture of sake.
Outside the ever-popular Hirome Ichiba, drinking games
were held...which grew livelier as the day went on
(and the sake went down!)

After 8 cups of sake downed...he was getting a bit blurry.

Tosa's Culinary creativity...
these displays praise the bounty that Kochi is blessed with.
Styles centered around fish, "sawachi" (everything on one giant plate)
"ikezukuri" (where the fish seem to be jumping)
and "tataki" (seared katsuo) are core to Kochi celebratory cooking.
