剣山へ
To Tsurugi-san, along the Iya Valley
雨季でも晴れ日もあります。
今月6日は晴れそうだったから
剣山は登れそうと思って、
行ってみたら
雨に濡れず、頂上まで登れました。
最後の2・3百メートルは雲の中だった、神秘的な雰囲気でした。
There was a break in the weather, the rainy season has them sometimes.
We realized we could probably get to the top of Tsurugi-san and up we went,
without getting rained on.
The last 200 metres or so were in the clouds so it had a mystical feel.

これまでステーンレスで作られた鳥居は見たことありませんでした。
でも…いいよね。

I have never seen a torii made of stainless steel before but
sure...why not?

名頃
The village of Nagoro
少子化する田舎には大変です。残りのわずかの人々は非常手段をとる…
Some say that population decline in the countryside has led to extreme measures
by the few remaining people in creating these "citizens" to keep them company.
This however is not true.
There are many people living here, they are merely shy and reclusive.
But, at the same time they do not want visitors think them "stand-offish"
and be offended so, they came up with the idea of these rag-stuffed dolls.

If you come here very early in the morning you can see dozens of locals hard at work.
Do not believe everything you read on the internet!
The intention is to gradually upgrade the "dolls" with motors to move body parts
and use better quality materials that can achieve more realistic flesh and hair,
in addition to video cameras and microphones so the local
people can interact with visitors from the safety (and anonymity) of their own homes.
